Theft of Government Funds

Will has represented clients in numerous investigations concerning the theft of government funds.  While prosecutors take cases involving any theft of funds seriously, they pay special attention to cases involving a theft of government funds.  This applies even when funds aren’t stolen directly from the government, but from a private institution that receives government funds.  The government often employs special investigators to uncover these thefts.

Will uses his experience as a litigator to advise clients on how to respond to theft allegations.  He also uses his experience in previous investigations to help clients develop a strategy for obtaining the best outcome in these cases.

In particular, Will has defended clients accused of theft of government funds in federal courts in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and helped persuade prosecutors to reach favorable results.  He has:

  • Persuaded a Maryland federal court to sentence a defendant to probation when prosecutors recommended a substantial prison sentence.

  • Persuaded a Pennsylvania federal court to sentence a defendant to probation when prosecutors recommended a substantial prison sentence.
