State Attorney General’s Office investigations

Will has represented clients in numerous state attorney general investigations.  These cases involve statutes and regulations that are often unclear, as well as the difficult to predict interests of political bodies.

Will uses his experience as a litigator to advise clients on how to respond to state investigations and challenge unfounded claims in court.  He also uses his experience in previous investigations to help clients develop a strategy for obtaining the best outcome in a state investigation.

In particular, Will has defended clients’ interests in negotiations with state attorney general’s offices and helped clients avoid fines and penalties.

In his work, he has:

  • Persuaded the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office to conclude an investigation into a client without bringing charges related to the use of funds by a nonprofit entity.

  • Persuaded the Georgia Attorney General’s Office to enter a favorable resolution for a client, avoiding substantial penalties for an alleged violation of a consumer protection rule.

  • Persuaded the New York Department of Labor to conclude an investigation into a client without bringing charges related to an alleged violation of Worker’s Compensation rules.

  • Persuaded a municipal Inspector General’s office to conclude an investigation into a client without bringing charges related to alleged misrepresentations in a financial disclosure.
